Unitech Training Academy became a fully operational proprietary school on April 24, 1997 upon receiving license from the Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education. Unitech started with one program, Certified Nursing Assistant, and a student population of 20. After the first year of operation, an increase in enrollment enabled Unitech to implement additional programs of study. In the years immediately following, a sharp increase in student and faculty made Unitech more recognized throughout the state of Louisiana. Unitech’s first six years were funded solely by private proprietors until the sudden boost in enrollment enabled the school to seek accreditation through the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education. Unitech Training Academy was granted accreditation by the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education in June of 2003.
Due to the increase and demand of Lafayette, Unitech has relocated its main campus to a more centralized location in South Lafayette, which now includes seven classrooms, a library, a testing center, two laboratories, and a café. Unitech Training Academy now offers a wide variety of programs related to the medical field and a Computer Systems Information program in which Unitech serves as an authorized Microsoft Testing Center. With hard work and dedication, Unitech opened a branch campus in West Monroe, Louisiana. In addition, Unitech has added its third school in Houma, La and fourth in Alexandria, La. Now with it's fifth campus in Lake Charles, La., Unitech Training Academy continues to strive for excellence, therefore extending our vision throughout the state of Louisiana. It is indeed a very exciting time to be a student at Unitech!
